Testimonials

"I would definitely say that Harrow Steel hugely impacted my career as a musician, simply for being exposed to lots of different musical genres and styles and being taught aurally – which is something most musicians have not experienced. Dexter is also like a mentor for each individual in the band and I believe this kept quite a few people from making bad decisions inside and outside of school.

"The overwhelming sense of family, where everyone is different and is accepted for these differences, is something that is rarely found in groups of young musicians, and was a really important part of my development."

"I have been a member of Harrow Steel for seven years. Throughout this time I have developed confidence, skills in music, communication and my ability to play in an ensemble. This formative experience has also enabled me to develop my leadership skills as a result. As a long-standing member I have a range of positive experiences with the band.

"Together we have travelled to a number of different venues, events and countries to share our music and grow together as a band. This has allowed myself and others to develop musically, whilst simultaneously development strong bonds as an ensemble.
"Being a part of Harrow Steel has given me a musical family in which I can be confident in expressing my musical ideas whilst being supported by my peers. I’ve met some new and extremely talented young people who also share a love and passion for music. Our ability to share and spread this passion with others, and this is why I am still a proud member of the band."

"Being part of Harrow Steel has been a significant part of my development as a musician. Had I not joined the band, I would not have been exposed to so many different genres of music, ranging from Cuban to Soul. This exposure has been largely influential in the music I now compose myself.

"In addition to this, being the drummer of the band has taught me how to play as part of an ensemble, which has enabled me to adapt according to other musicians’ styles seamlessly. My reason for staying with the band for so long is due to the welcoming environment at every rehearsal. My best memories from secondary school and sixth form are my experiences with Harrow Steel."

"Harrow Steel has enabled me to grow as an individual as well as within a team. My journey through the past 7 years has allowed me to develop confidence which has enabled me to communicate better with others of different ages and backgrounds.

"One of the many reasons I’m still playing in the band is that it brings a sense of togetherness- we all share a love and passion for our music, and we aim to share our joy and energy with the audience when we perform. I genuinely feel blessed to be a part of Harrow Steel."
